From the Past: My Brief Career as an Amateur Composer

11 April 2025

Back in my high school days, I used to enjoy writing music. Most of these efforts were futile and derrivative and I'd like to have the best recordings online in one (1) place: here!

Two works for orchestra:
          Poem I (2021), and (surprisingly!)
          Poem II (2023) (!); and
A Violin Sonata (2023) (my best piece I think).

And here is a selection of a few other things I wrote, but don't have recordings of, but wish I did!:

Chamber Music:
When First I Came to North Sea Shore (2023) for A Clarinet and Piano à quatre mains,
a Suite for solo Viola (2023),
          a little Quartet-movement (2022), and
Lied:
14 American Folk Song Settings (2023) for High Voice and Piano
From A Coney Island of the Mind (2021) for High Voice, Piano, and String Trio

Also: here is a little photo of myself ('23 Juliard Pre-college), Lucy Luo ('23 Pre-college, '27 Williams College), Dr. Andrew Thomas (our lovely composition teacher), and his partner, Howard Kessler.
